Q & A

Members of NYSCHA have found it helpful to communicate with each other about topics of mutual interest, to ask questions about specific practices, and to share information. The following methods have been set up to facilitate this communication:

NYSCHA Listserve

The listserv is a good way to communicate with other members of NYSCHA. To begin receiving and sending mail through the listserve, you need to join.

To join the NYSCHA listserv: Send a blank email to join-nyscha@list.brockport.edu. Leave the subject line blank. You will be active almost immediately.

To send messages to the listserv: Once you are a member, e-mail nyscha@list.brockport.edu.
You may want to put this address in your personal address book for easy access. When sending a message to the listserv, be sure to include your e-mail address for direct responses.

Receiving messages from the listserv: You will know you received a message from the listserv when you see nyscha@list as the sender. Generally, it is preferable to respond to the individual who wrote the message, rather than the entire listserv. If you hit "reply" to a message from the listserv, you will send your message to everyone on the listserv. Quite often people who query the listserv will provide a summary of responses in a message back to the listserv.

NYSCHA Executive Board Members

You may find it helpful to write to a member of the NYSCHA Executive Board when you have questions. You can write to one of the officers, to the chair of one of the sections or committees, the ACHA representative, or the NYSCHA conference planners. They are all interested in helping you with questions you may have. For the names of the members, check the Executive Board list.
