Le Moyne College Registered Nurse
(Reports to Director Wellness Center for Health and Counseling)
MAJOR FUNCTION:
Working under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse provides direct primary health care and health education in collaboration with the other members of Student Health Services. The nurse shall work in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Take a pertinent health history, vital signs, examine patients, collect specimens, and treat appropriately according to established procedures and policies while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Triage student emergencies appropriately in collaboration with other health care workers.
- Document nursing actions, update medical records implementing EHR
- Maintain skills of physical assessment, CPR, infection control, phlebotomy, administration of medication and immunization and other nursing procedures; acquire and maintain skills needed to function in all areas of college student health; participate in health teaching, assist MD, NP, PA with appointments, examinations and procedures and teaching as requested.
- Review and document all laboratory results and notify appropriate personnel of abnormalities.
- Provide support, education and referral for students regarding psychosocial and physical issues in collaboration with Health Office and Counseling Center personnel.
- Provide direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources, appraise quality and effectiveness of same, report deficiencies to supervisor; assist in inventory and replenishment of supplies.
- Stock and maintain examination rooms on a daily basis.
- Clean appropriately, according to OSHA standards, all medical areas on a daily and as needed basis.
- Assist in developing and implementing general policies and procedures designed to increase efficiency and make recommendations for improvement in quality of nursing care.
- Participate in training and orientation of new staff, attend staff meetings and in-house service programs.
- Maintain respect for patients’ rights as prescribed by the Patient Bill of Rights.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student interactions and records.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved nursing program, baccalaureate degree desirable.
PREREQUISITES:
- New York State license and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Well organized.
- Ability to prioritize.
- The Student Health Office is an accessible, safe, indoor environment. The person in this position will be expected to use emergency medical equipment and is required to perform sterilization and infectious disease control techniques in the normal performance of day-to-day operations.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Staff physicians provide primary patient care and treatment management. Involvement in quality improvement, accreditation and other practice management activities is an integral part of the staff physician role. Health Center staff physicians serve as consultants and campus resources for the larger campus community regarding public health issues. Physicians assist in identifying professional development needs and the development/implementation of professional growth activities. As a key member of the Student Health clinical team and a member of the Division of Student Affairs, staff physicians contribute to a variety of processes which promote the general welfare of students, collaborate in designing health education programming and coordinate comprehensive support services among Divisional partners. The Director of Health Services is responsible for directing and managing the Office of Health Services and is responsible for the supervision of two health service operations (Alfred campus and Wellsville campus). Reporting to the Director of the Center for Student Wellness, the incumbent will organize and direct services through the Addiction Illness: Medical Solutions Program (AI:MS) at CUMC.
Job Description
The Director, Addiction Illness: Medical Solutions Program will function in three primary service areas:
1. Assessment & Referral: The Director will:
- Provide individualized alcohol, tobacco/other substance abuse assessment and/or brief treatment to students in need.
- Provide referrals to campus and community agencies when necessary.
- Develop a comprehensive network of referral sources for students who require or prefer off-campus substance abuse treatment.
- Conduct staff education on identification, intervention, and referral strategies for student services counseling.
- Work collaboratively with Student Health Service medical and mental health clinicians to carry out above responsibilities.
2. Health Promotion and Outreach: The Director will:
- Identify priorities for alcohol and other drug outreach programs and services appropriate to the diverse CUMC population, and consistent with the mission of AI:MS.

- Track the reported use of alcohol and other substances in the CUMC student community, through health behavior surveys and other data collection methods.

3. Peer Outreach: The Director will:
- Provide direction and training for the student-elected AIMS representatives.

- Master's degree in social work or psychology. Must be a licensed social worker or psychologist in the State of New York. CASAC certified is highly desirable.

Director of Health Services – Syracuse, NY
Syracuse University, a private university situated on a beautiful residential campus in the heart of upstate New York, is seeking a highly skilled physician and astute organizational leader to serve as the Director of Health Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Health and Wellness, the Director will provide administrative oversight for both a comprehensive, primary care medical program, accredited by AAAHC, and the University's R.A.P.E. Center. The Director will partner with colleagues within the Health and Wellness portfolio, the Division of Student Affairs, and with other members of the University community to identify and implement strategies and practices to create a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to health and wellness on campus.
The Director will oversee a multidisciplinary team of approximately 50 Health Services staff and three R.A.P.E Center staff; establish priorities and manage a medical quality assurance and organizational assessment program; coordinate with government agencies and local health care facilities around public health issues; and manage the health services operating budget. In addition, it is expected that the Director will carry a small patient caseload.
Preference will be given to the candidate with a track record of outstanding and innovative leadership in a comparable setting and who evidences a public health orientation. S/he will take a collegial approach to team-building with staff and have the communication skills to build partnerships across campus.
