POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
New York University seeks an Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Student Health / Executive Director, Student Health Center to provide senior strategic leadership in design, development, implementation, assessment, and coordination of health-related programs and services for students, and to manage its Student Health Center, a facility accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), staffed by more than 225 FTE employees, and generating over 130,000 patient visits a year.
The AVP leads the collaborative efforts of the Student Health Center to improve the health status of students and support students’ learning and achievement. The Student Health Center is comprised of a comprehensive set of medical, counseling and ancillary services. These include the NYU Wellness Exchange with 24/7 crisis response, Optometry and Pharmacy services, Health Promotion, and the Moses Center for Students with Disabilities. The position is responsible for providing to the university community global health leadership on known and emerging issues relevant to the health, safety, and well-being of students in New York City and while studying globally. The position establishes and maintains student health insurance policies for the University and is responsible for setting health-related priorities and allocating resources for student health programs and services in accordance with the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs and the mission of the university. As the university continues to enhance and expand its global programs and develop portal campuses abroad (including NYU Abu Dhabi), this position will lead in the development of extended and enhanced health policies addressing regional health issues and needs.
The position reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and carries the potential for a clinical appointment in the faculty of NYU's School of Medicine. This is a full-time, 12-month senior administrative position; salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. NYU provides competitive and attractive fringe benefits.
The position requires the degree of Doctor of Medicine from an accredited medical school, eligibility for a current license to practice medicine in the State of New York, post-graduate training and Board certification in a primary care specialty (preferably internal medicine or family practice) or psychiatry, and at least five years’ experience in active medical practice.
Candidates must have had at least 6 years' significant, progressive health care administrative experience including design, development, and direction of health-related programs and services and responsibility for fiscal management, budget development, and human resources. The University prefers that candidates have had direct experience in college health or in a related area of clinical practice and administration. Candidates with public health training, experience in clinical preventive services, and a community health background will receive particular attention.

Clinical Director, University Counseling Center, Binghamton University
Budget Title: Assistant Director Counseling (SL-5)
Salary: $80,000-$85,000
As part of Health & Counseling Services within the Division of Student Affairs, the Clinical Director of the University Counseling Center (UCC) will:
- Assist in executive decision making as part of the Health & Counseling Services administrative team
- Foster the merger of health and counseling services
- Participate in short- and long-term departmental strategic planning
- Provide executive direction for the UCC in the absence of the Director
- Administer and direct the delivery of counseling and psychological services within UCC ** see Additional Information below
- Select, train and supervise clinical graduate students and trainees
- Create, provide and support outreach for varied University groups, organizations and departments, Participate in University-wide mental health prevention, intervention and postvention efforts
- Remain current on clinical service delivery issues within the college counseling field and related areas
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director
Requirements:
- Doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology from APA accredited program and New York license eligible. At least 5 years of experience, preferably in a college/university counseling center setting, with demonstrated increased counseling center responsibilities/duties.
In addition, the successful candidate should offer the following:
- Broad "generalist" clinical skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of disorders, concerns, and degrees of pathology in treatment, utilizing a time-limited model of care
- Commitment to a proactive student development perspective involving an active relationship with the campus community
- Team-oriented, "user-friendly" to students and university staff
- Ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advance planning
Multicultural competency, possessing the ability and skills to work with diverse populations (ethnic, LGBTQ, gender, etc.) - Prepared to handle a caseload in a dynamic environment
- Proficient oral and written communication skills, public speaking, and leading group discussions
- Commitment to a developmental philosophy toward both clients and trainees
- Available and willing to participate in occasional evening or weekend activities
Additional Information:
** Administer and direct the delivery of counseling and psychological services within UCC :
- Primary consultant on clinical issues within UCC
- Clinical supervision of staff
- Assess needs to ensure adequate levels/methodology of clinical services delivery
- Quality management of counseling and psychological service delivery
- Liaison with university offices
- Assist in establishing/maintaining relationships with external mental health agencies/partners '
- Develop/oversee professional development opportunities
- Respond/direct resources for mental health crises on campus
- Consult with concerned students, faculty, staff, parents and administrators regarding students' mental health issues
- Crisis management, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, assessment, triage screening and referrals addressing psychological/developmental issues that interfere with personal, social, academic functioning
- Provide data on UCC service/operation
