Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs
SUNY Cortland invites applications for the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs. The AVP is a senior-level administrator in the Division of Student Affairs responsible for providing leadership for the development of a positive, inclusive, diverse, and civil campus community that supports the personal growth and academic success of all students at SUNY Cortland. In consultation with the Vice President, the AVP develops policies and procedures for Student Affairs areas and provides leadership and supervision for the Counseling Center that includes the student development areas of Student Disability Services, Health Promotion, and Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Education as well as leadership and supervision for the Student Health Service and the Academic Support and Achievement Program. The AVP serves as the senior student affairs officer in the VP’s absence, serves in a leadership role with the College-Community outreach, and is on call in case of emergency or extraordinary situations. The AVP is responsible for coordinating assessment for the Division of Student Affairs and manages budgets for the Student Development areas. The AVP also advises the Student Government Association and/or other student organizations as necessary, serves as the appellate review officer for student conduct cases as designated by the VP, and coordinates parent/family communication across the Division.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution; demonstrated record of progressively responsible experience in higher education; demonstrated commitment to the development of students; excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and problem solving skills; supervisory experience; experience analyzing and managing complex situations and issues; ability to work in a strong service environment that is subject to constantly changing priorities; demonstrated ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution; Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Student Personnel or related discipline.

Director of Counseling and Student Development
SUNY Cortland invites applications for the Director of Counseling and Student Development. The director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and serves in a senior leadership role to lead and manage the Counseling Center programs in order to advance the College’s efforts to support student success and development. The director is responsible for a comprehensive program of counseling and psychological services for a largely undergraduate population on a residential campus. Major responsibilities include carrying out clinical responsibilities including individual and group counseling, psychological testing, crisis assessment and intervention, consultation, follow-up and referral. The director supervises the following units within the Student Development Center: Counseling Center, Health Promotion, Student Disability Services, and Substance Abuse Prevention Education.
Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in counselor education, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or a closely-related field; NYS Mental Health Licensure or attainment of licensure within one year of appointment; prior administrative and supervisory experience; experience providing direct counseling services; understanding of student development issues; demonstrated ability to develop effective consultative relationships; effective oral and written communication skills; and, demonstrated commitment to an environment of inclusion and diversity. Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing counseling services to college students; planning and assessment experience; knowledge of regulatory and legal issues affecting the Counseling Center.
