Registration Scholarship Application
To be applied to the 2010 American College Health Association Annual Conference
The New York State College Health Association (NYSCHA) is extending an opportunity to its members to apply for a registration scholarship to attend the American College Health Association (ACHA) conference in Philadelphia from June 1-5, 2010. The value of this scholarship for an ACHA individual member at a member institution is $445.
This year's ACHA conference promises to provide an excellent opportunity for college health professionals to enhance their skills and network with their colleagues from across the country while enjoying the historic significance, landmarks, and cultural interests of Philadelphia.
Because NYSCHA hopes to encourage applications from those who would otherwise not be able to attend the conference due to institutional funding restrictions, members from those institutions that cannot support the registration fee are most strongly urged to apply.
Applications will be accepted from members of the board as well as the general membership, with one scholarship awarded to individuals in each of these two areas. In the event no board member(s) apply, scholarships will be awarded to two qualifying recipients from the general membership. Applicants must be members of ACHA.
Registration Scholarships will be based on the following criteria:
- How the applicant believes s/he will benefit from conference attendance
- How the applicant believes her/his institution will benefit from conference attendance
- How the applicant believes NYSCHA will benefit from the applicant's attendance
- Years of service within college health
- Years of membership/service within ACHA/NYSCHA
- Would the member's institution contribute to the registration fee? If so, how much?
In your written application, please include your name, name/address/phone number of your place of work, email address, and area of professional discipline.
Individuals awarded this scholarship will agree to submit an article for publication on the NYSCHA website. The article should reflect highlights of the member's experience at the conference and should be submitted within one month following the conclusion of the conference.
In the event applications are submitted that are determined to be of equivalent value, a lottery will occur to decide the recipient(s) of the scholarship. These scholarships are not transferable or redeemable. Registration scholarships offered in subsequent years will be based on available funding.
The application deadline is March 31, 2010. Please submit applications to Stephen J. Smith, NYSCHA President, to Stephen.Smith@cortland.edu or fax to 607-753-2367.
